Hello Kitty Sticker

2024-03-28

My friend Jessica gifted me a pack of Hello Kitty stickers and, going for a multi-media approach, I thought it could be fun to incorporate one into a piece of art. Here, we have a jeep full of the Sanrio universe representatives. It’s definitely giving me the journey is the reward vibes.

For the abstract elements, I’ve long wondered how to best utilize powder-y products, such as blush or loose glitter eyeshadow, into my work. Of course, they are beautiful, but hard to seal, resulting in sparkling residue in each and every inch and every nook and cranny. I had to idea to seal the powder with clear nail polish, essentially mixing a kind of textured pigment. Here’s the result of the initial experiment, formed with painter-ly scrapes of a palette knife, accented with a few pops of lip gloss and glittering liquid shadows.
